Gobbledy Good Anniversary

Ah, the beloved Turkey. I have to admit that it wasn't the first thought on my wedding. My wedding was 7 years ago today and I've loved every day of my marriage. My husband Kris is fantastic. I just wish things weren't so crazy in my life. He doesn't deserve it. I could have done something with the film The Seven Year Itch, but I just don't want to think about that, so in the spirit of Weird Weddings I found these fun photos of a Turkey-themed wedding. This appears to be some sort of Project Runway moment.

And to think that this tasty bird almost became our national bird!

Good gracious! The first place I think of to go in formal wear is a turkey butchery.

I'm amazed she can keep the bird on the table.

And here we have the parents - I would keep my eyes shut too if I had to see what is coming next.

I don't know what to say here. We had several issues at my wedding - people not staying for pictures that were supposed to, forgetting the guestbook (you know who you are) - but not getting upstaged by guests like this. I saved you all the photo of the woman cutting up the turkey to make this. It was way not cool.

This is one of the bridesmaid's dresses. I think my bridesmaids looked much better in their lilac sheath dresses.

And on to the bride's dress. I had to have mine made too because I'm short. I don't think the bridal industry thinks about us 4'6" brides. I loved my dress. It was sort of medieval looking with shear half sleeves and pearls on the bodice.

I would be sneezing like crazy with all these feathers. How on Earth did they keep the floor so clean?

And finally, the blessed event. I know my wedding was the best day in my life - I hope yours was too.

So remember as you eat your turkey dinner, that cool and inventive things can come out of the not so beautiful things. That's what I try to tell myself these days!
